Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has an extended campus at Meade County Area Technical Center, providing even closer access to postsecondary degree and certification programs. Baptist Health Hardin is the regional healthcare provider, offering primary and specialty care as well as lab and diagnostics services right in Brandenburg – the county seat.

In addition to nearby Fort Knox and the school system, Monument Chemical and soon-to-be-built Nucor Steel Mill are among the county’s largest employers. Small businesses offering a variety of professional services also are a vital part of the employer base.

The City of Brandenburg is experiencing a main street revitalization, with new shops and restaurants that lead to the community’s picturesque riverfront park – the site of many concerts and community celebrations. The famed Meade County Fair each summer is considered one of the best in the country.
